Our EYFS Vision

Our children will become curious learners, where we listen to the voice of the child. They will become independent and determined due to adults who interact, nurture and build relationships. We place the child at the heart of their own learning. We want children to be happy and engaged. Let us play.

EYFS Aims

At Bellfield Nursery, Infant and Day Care we aim to have;

· Children who are happy, curious and engaged.

· Adults who; nurture, value, help them to build relationship, are partners in play.

· Parents who; work together, supportive, show mutual respect and for parents as partners in the child’s learning.

Our Bellfield Approach

Play is imperative in EYFS. The EYFS vision puts a child’s happiness and play first so that they can be curious and engage with learning. We take a child centred approach and let them lead their learning. Our staff "plan in the moment" and support pupil's learning through adult interactions, this supports developing "the characteristics of effective learning."

The class room environment has a range of resources and areas that children can access all the time. The resources and the way they are organised remains constant throughout the year offering children a familiar environment in which they can develop sustained play, practice new skills and extend their ideas overtime. Continuous provision is intened to support children’s play-based learning. Through continuous provision children can;

  • Revisit, rehearse necessary skills

  • Test out new ideas and learning

  • Return to a line of enquiry that interest them.

  • Access resources independently after adult support to restore self-esteem

  • Develop executive functions and schemas.

  • Act out role play that is troubling them

Whilst initially resources are perceived as ‘free play’ initially, through adult modelling and interactions their play becomes purposeful.
